Studies Show the Risks of Prolonged Use of Talcum Powder

More than 20 epidemiologic studies demonstrate an association between the use of talcum or baby powder in the genital area and ovarian cancer. The earliest studies date from journals that were published in the mid-1960s and show a threefold increase in ovarian cancer in females using this product. This shows that the risks are real and that concerns were brought to the attention of manufacturers long ago. In fact, the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health has similarly recognized that the use of talcum powder may increase the risk of ovarian cancer.
