Courtroom Experience

Michelle Hockers has developed a reputation as a strong litigator. Unlike many attorneys her age, Michelle has shown she is not afraid to take a case to trial. She has represented clients in seven jury trials since graduation in 2015. Judges and opposing counsel have praised Michelle for her skills in the courtroom and described her as “a bright and shining star in the legal community.”

In addition to her experience at trial, Michelle has experience litigating pre-trial. She has conducted over one hundred depositions, written briefs filed at the Court of Appeals level, and gone up against some of the best and brightest lawyers in the State.

Michelle is a Partner at Murphy & Prachthauser and focuses her practice on motor vehicle collisions, product defects, premises liability cases, and general negligence litigation. She has helped clients secure judgments at trial that doubled the offer made by the insurance company before trial. She has also helped clients achieve multi-million dollar settlements in serious injury cases. Michelle has been admitted to practice in courts across the country, including California and Minnesota.

Education

Michelle Hockers graduated magna cum laude in the Top 5% of her class from Marquette University Law School earning her Juris Doctorate with a certificate in litigation in May of 2015.

Prior to beginning law school, Michelle was a Pre-Law Scholar at Marquette University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature in July of 2013, magna cum laude. Through the pre-law scholars program, Michelle completed both undergraduate courses and her law school degree in 6 years instead of the usual 7 years most students require.

Background

Michelle was born and raised in West Bend, Wisconsin. After finishing law school, she moved back to West Bend. Outside the practice of law, Michelle enjoys boating with her husband and daughter and spending time with her family and friends. She is also an avid runner and participates in several half marathons each year.

Michelle is on the Board of Directors for the West Bend Community and Alumni Scholarship Fund also known as Columns, which raises money for scholarships and helps administer scholarships from private donors. Michelle helps organize a benefit Holiday Pops Concert at the West Bend High Schools Auditorium with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. She also participates in the interview process for seniors who are applying for scholarships.

In 2021, Michelle also joined the Board of Directors for the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce.
